looking for a trustworthy program to transfer data

so im looking to manage my storage space a little better and wanted to unify my data on my biggest drive so i can get rid of one of the smaller ones, but now im lacking a program to do so and i dont want to simply move it with windows because im not exactly sure how it would play out so i wanted to find a programm which can do that sort of professionally

What do you mean? Are there some programs you need to pull user settings out of, like bookmarks and preferences?

You can vastly overcomplicate things by using a tool like Robocopy, but dragging files around will work just fine. It's a good opportunity to sort things out, too.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

If i understand correctly what you want.

Easy route:

  • Get activation key out of windows
  • install new windows on big drive
  • Activate windows

As for steam it's technically portable program.

  • Move installed steam folder to big drive.
  • Launch it and wait till steam automatically reinstall itself.
  • If you have games that is not cloud saved you can find them in old drive in user's appdata and place them identical location in your new windows user's appdata.

As for personal files

Well have patience and sort them in your time.

Expert route: (usually breaks windows takes more time but hey it's your choice so difficult road might go insane)

You'll need clone disk program, I'm sure you can find programs in forums.

Once you cloned it then you can modify partitions and extend the drive to max

After that then time to sort it out for other files.

Hope it helps.

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.

Regardless of compatibility 🐧🖖

If your goal is to organize better and you may or may not have dublicates, FreeFileSync is really good for that. Its also what I use for backups, but have used to clean out old drives or organize better.
