Need help deciding: Steelcase Gesture or Secretlab Titan Evo

Hi all, I need some help with my office chair upgrade.

First some background:

Currently, I am sitting on a 10 year old DX Racer that is slowly starting to show its age. It served me well and I don't regret purchasing it at the time, but I need something better. I am a full time software dev and gamer in his 30s with the usual amount of homeoffice. Which means, I use my chair a lot. I do not have any significant back pain issues yet *knock on wood*, but feel that it is only a matter of time.

As the title says, I am somewhat torn between a Steelcase Gesture and a Secretlab Titan Evo. I am fully aware that the Gesture will be better, but is it double-the-money-better?

I see a used Gesture at Amazon for about 1000€, the Titan Evo would set me back approximately 600€. (I am in germany, by the way) Unfortunately, it does not seem like I can test either of them locally before buying.

So, what are your experiences? Is the Gesture really worth the money over a Titan Evo?

Other suggestions are welcome, but I feel that I am set at one of these at the moment.

No, there are many other sub $500 chairs worth it.  $1000 used office chair is ridiculous.

SecretLabs is a chair maker. Steelcase is a CHAIR MAKER.

If you only have those 2 choices, get the Steelcase.  They're made for 9-10 hours a day, 5 days a week.  SecretLabs in no way has the experience, manufacturing, or knowledge (and probably no desire) to make long lasting quality products. They seem to want to capitalize on gamer and gimmicks.

Well, it is not really used, but via Amazon Warehouse Deals. So there should still be full warranty on the Gesture, but it might not be brand new.

Do you have some other recommendations?

Warehouse deals, okay.  Makes more sense for paying that much then.  Amazon has one for 900, not sure if it's the fully featured one with headrest, etc.

Yes, a few.  The Series 1 is a solid work chair as well...

The Haworth Zody is nice too...family member works for Haworth in Michigan and uses one daily.

I've got a steelcase S1 and if I could have afforded it at the time, I would have liked to buy one of the high end steelcase chairs I tried at the same time.  The build quality of the low end chair is amazing.  Only regret is not buying a higher end one for more comfort and adjustments.

I have no personal experience with Steelcase, but I can vouch for the SecretLabs Titan Evo (I have the XL). I'm a big guy, and a work from home software engineer. So this chair has a huge butt in it 5+ days a week for 8-10 hours a day. It's lasted me for 2-3 years now with no obvious signs of significant wear. I do have occasional back pain due to my "hobbies" of auto repair and home remodeling, and the Titan Evo has always been pretty comfortable when I was tired and sore.

That being said, I have never tried a Steelcase, and it very well could be that those are even better.
