So a few weeks back i removed the battery of my laptop because it was starting to expand. Ever since then ive been using my laptop directly connected to mains. It was all fine while i had an inverter but then it died aswell and ive been having many power outages lately. I dont mind having to switch on my laptop again. My problem is that whenever i do try to boot it up, it switches on then switches off on its own. It does this 2-3 more times before finally switching on. And when it doees it automatically resets my CMOS. Every time. Once it does reset and boot back up, i have to wait for two hours before being able to log into my laptop. It says something like "The sign in option is disabled because of fauled sign in attempts or repeated shutdowns."

Ive tried to fix it but every where i search, it just tell me to reset my CMOS by removing the cmos battery from the motherboard and putting it back in. But upon looking for the battery, I cant seem to find it. Is there a way to permanently set my cmos so it doesnt reset everytime?

btw, im using an HP Pavillion 360x

which specific model number

HP models share mostly the same name, but the model number/series is different.

I don't think most laptops nowadays have a CMOS battery could be wrong. But it sounds like maybe the motherboard blew something possibly

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

CMOS battery in modern laptops is not just a battery to remove, but taped together with a small connector cable. You can remove that connector cable, wait a minute (also disconnect the main battery!) and plug it back in.

It may look like this:

Hey, thanks for replying!

If there is nothing like that, it's probably the main battery. It is already removed, so hold the power button for a bit, then plug it in with the adapter and start it. If it was the main battery, you will get a message that CMOS is cleared.

So if you do not want this CMOS cleared message, you'll have to plug in a new battery.
