Help needed with parts for PC (Gaming, Animation & Rendering) Budget: ~$800

Hi! I'm looking for some guidance on whether to upgrade my current PC or rebuild it entirely. My system is a mix of parts from various builds, from 2017 with some upgrades in 2020/21. Ideally, right now I'd like to transition to a micro ATX case, with something like the Fractal Design Pop, but I'm open to considering other options as well!

Location: America.

Budget: $800 (flexible for significant upgrades or necessary changes like DDR5/AM5 compatibility).

Use: Mostly gaming and 3D Animation. I'll be using it for programs like Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Blender, Maya, and Unity. Game wise: Overwatch 2, Fortnite, Valorant, RDR2, & Minecraft.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Current Build:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700
  • CPU Cooler: Using stock right now (although I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO laying around)
  • Motherboard: Asus STRIX B350-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard
  • Memory: OLOy Warhawk RGB 16 Gb (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
  • Storage: Western Digital Blue 500 GB 2.5’ Solid state Drive
  • Video Card: NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB (Not going to change right now)
  • Case: Corsair iCUE 220T RGB Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
  • PSU: Corsair CX600
  • Peripherals: Keychron K2 Wireless, Glorious Model O2 Wireless, Logitech G733 Wireless headset
  • Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G3 144hz 1920x1080
  • Case fan: iCUE SP120 RGB PRO Performance 120mm Fan (x4)
  • Operating System: Windows

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Preferences for the build:

  • I'd love a white, quiet build (stress noise is perfectly okay)

Other Notes to keep in mind:

  • Looking to upgrade monitor to 1440p later this year
  • Furthermore, I'm most likely going to upgrade my storage to 1TB, but that is not a concern right now

Open to any suggestions :)

Thank you so much for helping out. It is much appreciated!

I'd go for this (you could drop down to the 7500f for cpu and save 60 bucks, and you'd lose the igpu meaning you can't run a display on your cpu)

Drop in either a new 5700x3d or a used 5800x3d (200-250$), they will annihilate even the ryzen 7700 in gaming for games that use the extra cache, board will support the cpu via bios update, yes put that cooler on as it still has a use

Depends on how much ram you need

If you need 32gb or 48gb send a thaiphoon burner screenshot to identify ic and ill point to rams that will have guaranteed compatibility both jedec and xmp

64gb and 128gb you swap this kit for a new one

Think youll see the biggest uplift here since the 3060ti is worth around 200$ if you sell it, can buy a used 3080(ti) for 350-400$

PSU: Corsair CX600

850w rmx or equivalent psus are 40-60$ used but new is also a valid choice here with the gf a3 850w at 95$ and having a 10 year warranty

No point changing the platform if all you are gonna get is a cpu thatll perform worse than a 5700x3d/5800x3d, besides a cpu change itself costs money not to mention ddr5 is alot more expensive than ddr4 and current imcs have issues with 4 stick and quad rank (128gb 196gb)

so once this upgrade isnt cutting it anymore, am5 will have matured and ddr5 will get cheaper and be available in higher capacities (2x64, 4x64)

not to mention itll probably be like am4 and have dirt cheap used mobos + cpus and considering "entry" level boards like the b650m hdv are already stupid overbuilt (14 usba + 2 usbc, vrm capable of handling an oced 7950x, 10000+ ddr5 capability) and all boards have bios flashback youll have dirt cheap used boards that are very capable, and thats not mentioning the midrangers like the b650 pg lightning, tomahawk, gamung plus, aorus elite, etc.
