Need help - first pc build problemssss...

Hiii, so i just built my first ever computer but ofcourse... i run into a problem. I 'should' have installed everything correctly but i know get a problem that my cpu overheats (check video) as soon i boot my pc. The cooler i have is the arctic liquid freeze II 360 and the motherboard is the asus tuf gaming z790 pro with an i7 14700k. I also have a green / red light (red probably being that the cpu temp gets to high as it only starts flashing when temperature goes up.) I'm at a total loss and don't know what to do, i don't know that much about this stuff.

I did find some stuff online about the arctic rev 1 not coming with an lga 1700 upgrade kit but that shouldn't be a problem? https://support.arctic.de/lf2-lga1700

Any help would be very kindly appreciated 😄

You built the PC all by yourself?

There's a plastic on AIO's active surface that touches the CPU, did you peel it off?

Should I be asking if you used thermal paste?

Just double check that it has been properly tightened down as well. Might be making poor contact with the IHS on the CPU. Also make sure both the Fans and the Water pump are plugged in the correct ports on the MB

There's only one cable that i had to connect i teste multiple headers alrdy but none work. I've removed the cooling twice and everything seems to be normal, i don't know if this is good tho?

Mounting seems correct, pls confirm

- CPU temps in BIOS, in Windows at boot and after 5 minutes (with HWInfo64)

- where you've plugged the pump/fan header

- if the small VRM fan and the rad fans spin (check rpm for all with HWInfo)

- if you hear the pump running

- check tubes temp with your hand, near the pump and near the rad, it should be relatively close, if it's hot by the pump and cold by the rad there's a problem with the flow

that was my next guess

@matbrs check PD's list to see if anything there might be your problem

Haven't gotten to that yet / the pc turns off after like 30 seconds when it's getting to hot
- where you've plugged the pump/fan header
I have tried both the cpu_fan / aio_pump but neither seem to work

- if the small VRM fan and the rad fans spin (check rpm for all with HWInfo)

The small VRM fan / rad fans spin, don't really know what that is 😄 (first time building a pc)

- if you hear the pump running

I do hear some water running but not really loud and constant.

- check tubes temp with your hand, near the pump and near the rad, it should be relatively close, if it's hot by the pump and cold by the rad there's a problem with the flow
The tubes don't really feel hot.

I also get an error when booting  "cpu fan speed ..."

Ok seems the AIO is running fine, maybe the mounting pressure wasn't good, try to reinstall it, you shoud screw the thing tight (but do not apply too much force, stop when you have a strong resistance)

Start with one corner, screw it just a bit, do the opposite corner, same, then the 2 others, and then alternatively tight each corner a little more until all are fully screwed in

alright will try this, is it normal for the CPU to get that hot that quick?

Not at all it should stay at max 30ish C while in windows

Overhat in 30sec means there's basically no cooling...

Haven't gotten to windows yet, but what i meant to say is let's say you don't have a cooler does it normally get that hot that quick? Or might there be something wrong with the CPU as well?

Without cooling a CPU overheats in 30 secs indeed, experienced that

But never saw a report of a self immolating CPU 😛

all the evidence points to poor mounting pressure

before someone else says it, you should get a contact frame for lga1700, then built in cpu retention *bows* the IHS resulting in subpar surface contact.

about 15 bucks online.

Yeah i saw something about the 'lga 1700 upgrade kit" that comes with the new revisions of this cooler. Is it safe to keep this current backplate/mount on?

you should try to get that kit. try your cooler manufacturer website. some of them were giving them away. try ebay who knows.

and no it's not safe to use an improperly mounted cooler past bios

I decided to get the pc "serviced" in the store where i bought all of the parts, don't really want to mess anything up. Thanks for the help!
