what if you had a single 120mm rad as rear intake in push/pull, then had 3 front fans exhausting (negative pressure) would it significantly increase the efficiency of the 120mm rad?

 

Or would you just be better off using the rear rad as exhaust anyway...?

 

Ignore dust in this scenario. And yes I know it would be better to just use a 360mm radiator up front, but in this scenario what if you just had a spare 120mm at hand.

3 intakes would push more air THRU thecase than a single would.  3 exhaust pull air from a limited area well, but don't provide the airlfow needed.

Front exhaust would basically have no impact on the performance of the rear rad, and not much on the inside temp

You'd be better with a basic aircooler, 3 front intake 1 rear exhaust

I think I'm with you on this as my philosophy when it comes to water cooling is, 'if it fits, then whack it in'. I have 2 builds that have 120 rads on the rear exhaust fan mounts AND have them as push pull intake. See photo of my Hyte Y60 build. push pull dose not off much preforamce if any... atlest for the added cost of the fan.

if the gpu is not water cooled then you want the back fan as exhaust

If you must use the 120, mount it on intake in front with 2 fans, and put the other fan on the rear on exhaust. 

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.
