Need help fixing av receiver

I have a sony rst dh-1080, my pet cat seemed to relieved himself a little on top of the receiver i cleaned it as much as i can with a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. It turns on but goes into protection mode and turn off shortly after any ideas how to fix it don't want to spend the money to get a replacement

How long ago did this happen? Open it up as much as you can (top cover especially) and point a fan on it for a week. The fact that it turns on and goes into protection mode is a good thing... there might be some short bridged by the liquid that needs to dry.

Get rid of the cat.
