The days of white PCBs on motherboards has been, (diden't do too well) and has now gone really, Sapphire did quite a few of them.

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?psn=000101&pid=228&lid=1

I think Gigabyte had a couple too, a nice contrast to their bright blue PCBs at the time (which I actually quite liked)

I think the main issue is white PCBs are very very specialist, whereas black PCBs can fit into most setups a white PCB will stand out horrifically unless the rest of the PC matches and the amount of people who would actually buy a white PCB motherboard really wouldn't justify production of them, especially when you think they'd need to make different models with different features etc.

Aww thought one had been released and there were pictures *cry*

I'd love to see white PCB's especially motherboards and then put them inside a white Corsair 600T, would look pretty interesting.

The closest I've seen was Snef's modified Z77 Sabertooth whereby he painted it white. Aside from that, I haven't seen a white board and I want one :(

Along with a white Corsair 600T :P

There are models released, problem is they are AM2 and following the release of AM3 Sapphire went back to a more ordinary PCB colour,

Its probably the best way to do it since the thermal armor is removable you can spray it without damaging the motherboard, need to be careful still though, I'd say if its done to keep paint away from underside of thermal armor.

If I was ever to do anything like that I'd think I'd take it to a specialist lol

The last thing I'd want to do is damage that amazing board but maybe I'm a wuss :)

See, I don't get that. We've got colors ranging from Oranges, to Greens, to Yellows, to Blues, Reds, Gold, and Brown. Yet no one bothers making a board with a large amount of White in it (PCB or heatsinks.) What's the deal?

Interesting...

Well, they could try doing one again, I think the white living room & office has really caught up since 2010. And that thing seemed to be from like 2001. I know a lot of people would buy a white motherboard now a days at least.

If you want a clean looking white build why don't you guys buy yourselfs a Sabertooth and paint it white? We had that on the last livestream. Looks just awesome and alot cleaner compared to a white PCB. :/

I'm pretty sure a lot of us would rather buy a painted PCB rather than doing it ourselves haha

  • 2 weeks later...

I just was searching for a white PCB motherboard as I wanted to build a "The Stig" themed build. Does anyone know what the process is to paint a motherboard?

Just get a Z77 Sabertooth and paint the thermal armor.

Painted the board of the Thermal Armour?

Problem with a white PCB is that the capacitors and other chips will be other colours, so will stand out, where are nearly no components that get soldered on to to board are white. If a manufacturer was going to put the effort into paiting EVERYTHING white, it would be scary expensive.

That doesn't really matter lol...personally I like the idea of capacitors and chips standing out.

and to your above post:

the thermal armor can be taken off and then be painted white.
