Hello!

I have an rx 580 8gb asus card and whilst playing PC Building Simulator 2 *AHEM AHEM*  my gpu loves to give me a lovely danger point to where it gets to 90 degrees the picture says 89 degrees but didn't catch it at that point. I haven't really easily found what kind of "safe operating temperature" the rx 580 can actually reach but it's confsuing to me why my gpu gets this hot though...

a phew months back I re-pasted my gpu as this gpu is a 7 year old card however owned for 3 nearly 4 years so I thought it may be a good idea for some new thermal paste but I feel like it's worse for PCB2 but better for every single other game?? I used MX-4 for the re-paste of my gpu and used the spread method and covered the chip completely almost smothered but not too much. Does anyone have any ideas or is this normal.

Usually graphics cards on desktops target 80c. I’m gonna go ahead and guess this is a laptop? If so it’s running hotter than I would be comfortable with.

90°C are a bit hot but still okay

Hold on just a second.

That 90c is the gpu edge temp.

The core hotspot is not displayed on the RX580 but 90c is very hot for the edge temp and 143w is significantly below what that card will usually pull.

I suspect some major throttling going on.

Maybe it's time for a new gpu 🤣
