Quickbooks Pro 2014 - 1 license 2 computers?

Note: small business - home office

Calling all bookkeepers and accountants and geeks

I have been trying to setup one copy of quickbooks for two different computers to use it simultaneously, WITHOUT have to buy Intuit's extra add on.

So far i have to backup and restore the backup file everytime between the two computers if i want to move the data or keep it updated on both
(one computer is mine, and one is my boss's)

Intuit forums allow 1 license to be used on 2 computers but will only work if you buy their add on which allows the program to view data files over the network which costs a dumb amount of money... Is there any way to bypass this?
The only solution ive found online is people building their own NAS and server which unfortunately is not an option for me and my boss.

I have currently installed the software in a shared folder within the network. it still doesnt work (im not surprised but its really the only thing i could come up with)

Is what i want even possible?

Thanks.
