AMD usb dropout bug

This issue started several months ago where all of my USB ports drop out/turn off and turn on after a few seconds. This happens randomly and more commonly happens when I am doing something that is demanding on my PC. Here is my spec list:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB)
Motherboard: MSI B550 GAMING GEN3 AM4
GPU: GIGABYTE Gaming OC GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6
Memory: Samsung SSD980 (1TB)
Power Supply: CORSAIR RM650 650 W ATX 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular
Windows 11

Everytime this happens, I'm hit with this log that appears in Event Viewer:

r/pchelp - USB dropout bug

"Windows cannot store Bluetooth authentication codes (link keys) on the local adapter. Bluetooth keyboards might not work in the system BIOS during startup."

Also, I noticed that this only started happening after a certain windows 11 update, although I can't remember which one. Unfortunately I wasn't able to system restore back to the previous update for some reason.

I am aware that many people have also suffered from this issue, especially with AMD and certain motherboards, to which I think my specs fit that criteria based on research. So, I've tried almost everything to fix this problem.

Updating bios to the most recent version (specifically, version 7B86vP6, extracting it straight from MSI's website) testing to see if a certain USB device is causing it (nothing is), uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, updating drivers, changing power plan settings, stopping windows from automatically turning off USB ports, reinstalling a fresh copy of windows, and probably several other things that I found online that I can't remember at the moment because I've been trying to troubleshoot this for months since I haven't had a lot of time to sit and really try to figure it out. For example, I have tried to tinker with certain bios settings related to this issue. Nothing has worked.

I've also contacted AMD support since this has been an issue for certain CPU and motherboards that I think I am victim to, and it was fixed in a bios update. After several back and forth emails with them giving me steps on how I might be able to fix this problem (including ones mentioned above), none of them have worked.

I am obviously missing something because a bios update was supposed to fix this, but I don't really know what I could be missing at this point. I am well aware that this has been an issue for other people with similar parts as well. Let me know if there is any other information I could provide, I know I missed some points but I can't remember them at the moment. Maybe I have to go back and test to see if a USB device is causing it (I usually have my mouse and keyboard in addition to a USB hub, USB bluetooh adapter, my headset wireless adapter)? I've been also considering upgrading to a ryzen 9 for a while so i feel as if I can't get this solved this might as well be a good time to move on up. Where do I go from here? I'm attaching a few more photos related to my PC that might be helpful.

I would estimate it is the Bluetooth adapter. Maybe a bad adapter. If able to, disconnect it for  few hours and test your system out.

I have had a USB device cut out many times which led to a bad device. I think it was the mouse.

Good troubleshooting, looks solid from that perspective. For fun, I'll take a guess that it's the USB hub. silencer12 needs a foil after all!

Remove the USB hub and see if the issue disappears. The other way you can do it, is if any of the devices you listed were very cheap, Chinese USB devices, try unplugging those first.

I took the next couple days to test out my PC with both my USB hub and Bluetooth adapter disconnected after reading these, and I'm happy to report that the dropouts aren't happening anymore. I'm not bothered to find out which device is specifically causing it at the moment because I've been trying to fix this for a while and I finally have fixed it (and of course out of all the troubleshooting it ends up being a simple problem with a simple fix). Thanks guys!

Darn! Leaving me and @silencer12 hanging on which of us picked the faulty device correctly... orrrr, plot twist... the bluetooth adapter and the USB hub caused the issue 😆 I guess we'll never know 🤔

Glad you got it solved!
