770 Power

PlenumRated

What PSU wattage do I need to get a 770, I was wondering if a 500 watt that I have will work.

A nice high-quality 500W PSU will be enough for that setup.

Yes, or the CS550M from Corsair

The CX is 80+ Bronze

The CS is 80+ Gold

Either one would be a great option.

GTX 770 can draw 230W and NVidia recomends a 600w PSU

(I personally have never gotten my pc to draw more than 400w but always nog to have some head from as every PSU is different)

I personally would go 650w minimum. Gives you room to expand in the future and not make you so locked down. Save up a little more and get the bigger PSU.

500W is perfectly fine and enough if you dont plan on SLI in the future. if you get a gold one its even enough to power a Titan, and id wager that in the future, with more power efficient architectures, 500w will stay enough for a highend card

I used an old 300W Power Supply for my last build, 130W Athlon&60 or 70W HD 6670. They reccomended 500W...

500w is fine.

In my system I have a :

  • 4670k
  • 3 x 240gb SSD
  • 1 HDD
  • H80i
  • MSI GTX 770

But like the others have said make sure you get a good PSU, I am personally using a Silverstone SFX 450W 80+ Gold PSU.

They recommend a higher wattage power supply so people don't complain to them that their Piece of crap unit can't deliver full wattage and power their card. As long as your power supply isn't a piece of crap (one of those $10 units that come with cheap cases for example) and it can supply its rated wattage, then a 500W unit will do fine. CX500M is fine.
