Does the iPhone 15 front speaker have a mesh?

I can't figure out is mine is faulty or if thats the design. I can't see well from online pics. Mine has a little space that goes deep into the phone and THEN i can see mesh. isnt it supposed to be on the surface?

No, it's not supposed to be right on the surface of the phone.
