Hey guys recently my pc stopped working, I’d suppose it’s because of the PSU, it passes the paperclip test but when I connect it to motherboard the fans don’t spin, but the motherboard does light up. I tried every part 1 by one and none are working.

The lights also flicker and instantly go off.

I have a chieftec 500w used psu with 28 amps and idk how many volts

any help I’d appreciate thank you  😃

Do you know exactly what Chieftec 500w you have? They have a few models.

Some are absolute trash and should not be used.

Hey man thanks for your reply. I can send you a photo actually

It could definitely be the PSU thats causing this issue. This is a horrible unit and should be replaced immediately.

The GPS series in general is on the Tier:E -AVOID in the PSU Tier list.

Dont try to start the PC anymore with this unit and see if you can get a better unit, it doesn't have to be super fancy.

Even if its not the PSU this might save your house from burning down at some point.

https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

Anything on the C:Tier would be acceptable for budget builds but if one has the funds they should be avoided and rather look into the B:Tier.

A and B tiers are great for medium to top high end builds.
Obviously one can pair a higher tier PSU with a lower end build for safety.

Dual rail 18a max 360w so this is just a shitty 360w unit

Complete garbage only useful for low power office pcs with no dgpu

Problably just your gpu or the rest of the parts overloading one of the rails hence why its not turning on

Full specs of the build?

Country?

And how much money can you spend on a psu?

If there arent any new 650w+ units in the 50-60$ range used is prefferable due to higher wattage and higher quality psus like the 750/850w rm(x) or equivalent going for 40-60$ used
