USB AF to USB CM 180 degree connector for Ifi hip-dac 2

Jovian

Hi,

I own a Ifi hip-dac 2 and it's cable solution is sub optimal. It has a USB AF port on the bottom that goes 180 degrees into a USB CM for your phone. In this config both connectors get pushed to the bottom of the pocket causing stress on the weak point that leads to it breaking. I would really like to have an adapter as mentioned in the title but the only stuff I can find is no name Chinese garbage on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/QIANRENON-U-Shape-Connector-Transfer-Converter/dp/B0BN9QPB5W/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=usb+180+degree+adapter&qid=1705508754&refinements=p_n_condition-type%3A2224371011&rnid=2224369011&s=electronics&sr=1-1

The problem is both that the USB AF port is inset and that there needs to be enough space for the thickness of both devices.

My ideal solution would be to have the dac and my phone back to back with minimal spacing so that I stop destroying cables and so that it fits in my pockets.

Any recommendations would be appreciated and if you have a good experience with the Amazon stuff that will work too.

Not sure why you don't try the adapter? It's a straight pin-to-pin adapter, which means it has no unnecessary electronics or complex things to fail. Just buy it and see if it solves your issue.

Nevermind. I read your link as "here's one I found, but I don't want it because it's Chinese." I see now that it also doesn't have the correct USB C end.

Have you tried anything like this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/133948172914?hash=item1f2feeea72:g:nJ4AAOSwzNdhpAsd

I have one with a cable atm and the one I linked has a variation with the right connector. The problem with the cable is that it gets damaged and takes up too much space. I could of course try the one I linked but I wanted to check if there was a "name brand" alternative first. Have seen too many of Louis Rossmanns recent videos to not at least try to avoid giving these people money.

After thinking on it some more, you might better off buying a crap ton of cheap cables and just replacing them from time to time when needed. If you use your device that often (or are so rough to damage them constantly), a rigid adapter like you want sounds like a bad idea. Instead of a damaged cable, you'll end up with a damaged port on your device(s), and then you'll really have a bad time.
