Budget (including currency): N/A

Country: U.S.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Computer Engineering, Software Development, and Games, of course.

Other details: Currently, I am using a FTW3 3090, i7 9700k, B-360A PRO Motherboard, and 32GB of DDR4. That said, I'm confident my CPU and motherboard are bottlenecking the rest of my system-- quite substantially, too.

I was wondering if anyone had CPU suggestions that would pair well with my GPU and reduce bottlenecking. A motherboard and RAM upgrade would be necessary with that, but is less important to me. Thanks, friends.

Hello... I would go with a new CPU, new CPU Cooler, Motherboard , and RAM. I have a list below for you to look over. I added a Air Cooler and 360mm AIO, you can take your pick. Please let me know what you think.

I have been building PCs for over 30 years so if you have any questions please ask. For future communication I use Discord for much faster response times as I have it open 24/7. Here is my Discord: Wizardsnapper#2772 I am also available if you need help before, during, or after the Build process on Discord through Voice or Video Chat. I can be with you while you build your new PC if you need me to be.

I like the list, but I was thinking about these specs I found on Microcenter-- seems like a great deal:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006593/intel-core-i9-12900k,-asus-z790-v-prime-wifi-ddr5,-gskill-ripjaws-s5-32gb-kit-ddr5-6000,-computer-build-bundle

CPU: i9-12900K

Motherboard: ASUS Z790-V

RAM: 32GB of DDR5-6000

Seems like a no brainer to me, unless you think the 13th gen CPU will bring that much more efficiency. Although, I did some research and it seems the only difference is the L2 Cache-- with the 13th gen having roughly double the amount. The bundle is on sale for $400 right now, which to me, seems nicely priced although you can tell me differently if not.

I wouldn't recommend a 12 gen DDR5 build do to the native DDR5 support not to mention that board's VRM's are pretty bad. You'll suffer thermal throttling. If you want to reuse your RAM then you can do something like this.

Pretty good deal but the 12900k is kinda meh when theres the 13/14600k which will destroy it in singlecore and problably match it in multicore

And you already have rams you can reuse so no need for ddr5, you can get most of the performance benifit from going ddr5 by just tuning your ddr4 to 4200-4500 gear 1 which is doable for common ics like hynix djr or micron rev e/b
