Budget (including currency): $200 MAX (for the CPU upgrade)

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Fortnite and Battlefield

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Gpu: MSI RTX 3050 8gb

Current CPU: I5 7500

RAM: 16 gb ddr4

Motherboard: Asrock B250 Pro4

Ive been dealing with a CPU bottleneck and looking to upgrade it. Whats the best Intel Cpu for around $150 USD (used would work too) Need it to fit my current board.

Hello... If you have a $200 budget then I suggest a new CPU & Motherboard. Any CPU your current Motherboard could handle is still too far out of date. I would get a Intel 13 12100f and a B760 Motherboard. This will allow you to step into the current-ish world of PCs and give you a small upgrade path for a Core i5 later if you ever wish to. I wouldn't go any higher than a Core i5 12500 with this new Motherboard as it is really low budget but still very capable to a certain extent.

Also by getting a newer CPU and Motherboard you can finally use your RTX 3050 to it's fullest Speeds and it will no longer be held back by the Last Gen PCIe 3.0.

I have been building PCs for over 30 years so if you have any questions please ask. For future communication I use Discord for much faster response times as I have it open 24/7. Here is my Discord: Wizardsnapper#2772 I am also available if you need help before, during, or after the Build process on Discord through Voice or Video Chat. I can be with you while you build your new PC if you need me to be.
