Hi All

We are two creators and in need of a data storage solution that will give us more storage space so that it will at leas be a while before we grow out of it.

The plan is to create two identical machines that will back up to each other over fiber internet.

I am now planning how this should look, and I hope to get some good feedback on my thoughts and also let me know if it is completely stupid to do it like I imagine

Besides just providing storage, it would come in handy to be able to run Home assistant and other relatively light services, but also be able to spin up machines with blender, davinci resolve to offload rendering from our main machines. This is however next step and will require a dedicated GPU that we can add later, if we feel the need.

Besides this, it must be low power and have room for adding a GPU at a later date.

Software wise I am still not completely settled in, but is currently leaning towards running proxmox and virtualize everything else, including truenas scale.

So far I have compiled the following list of components, centered around the i5-13500.

With one parity drive, the main storage would give us 54GB of usable space, which would give us plenty of space for the foreseeable future.

I added a boot SSD and a working drive.

I plan on setting it up with automatic archiving to the RAID.

The machines will then sync their archive over the internet at night.
