Extending C Drive

Not without formatting both drives. If you format both, you could setup RAID 0 across both drives, but you can't just do that here. 

 

If you want a bigger boot drive, you really just need to buy a bigger boot drive.

Hello,

I hope everyone having a great start to this year so far! I have never been able to understand disk management... So, my C drive is almost full, I just found that I have an SSD drive on the shelf, so I connected it and formatted the new SSD drive. is there a way to extend the C drive with the newly formatted SSD? I don't want the new SSD drive to be visible, I want all of its storage to "merge" to the C drive. Please take a look at the attached pictures.

You can’t do that with boot drive.

Unless I'm mistaken this talks about merging partitions on the same physical drive. If I understood OP correctly, they want to merge across multiple physical drives. I don't think Windows supports this, at least for the OS partition. I think you can maybe do it (for non-C) with Storage Spaces?

 

(What you really want is Linux + LVM 😛)

Well, you can mount it as a folder, but this will not change that the C drive is almost full…

you will just not see it as another drive, but as a folder 🙂

AFAIK there are some implementations of RAID 0 that would give the full capacity of each drive. Not all, but some. Not that you should really do it either way, RAID 0 is rarely a good idea.

Good catch, I missed the partition reference and focused on the drives being the same SSD.  Made me think that they meant physical drives.  Why you'd have adjacent partitions NOT on the same drive is new to me.
