Are these small spikes normal?

are these small frame time spikes normal? they dont happen often but im just wondering if this is like normal or not? this doesnt affect my experience at all and i probably wouldnt notice them really unless i use msi afterburner to monitor frametimes

100% normal as the game loads what you're viewing and that changes to near (like the wall) and then far (the trees). 

 

Constantly loading textures, dealing with ambient occlusion, light rays, etc.

when would they be considered abnormal? like how often would they be and how big would they be?

No idea, i don;t monitor them.  IMO, you're looking for issues.  Sure, call it monitoring

 

When your experience is impacted or it pulls you out of immersion... then it's an issue for me.

you're right i actually always when i get a new pc i always get paranoid and monitor everything, i should probably just relax and enjoy the game and not look for anything

100%!!!  Obviously if you want to check performance, that is fine. I mean when I put in my 7800X3D to replace the 7700X I loaded a few games to check the increaase.

 

But after that, let her run.  You'll notice when something isn't right, then go checking.

 

That's Alan Wake 2, not an easy game to run and you're rocking great FPS.  You're good!
