Acer aspire one d255 turns only when plugged in

Hi, i have this laptop from my dad a long time ago, its alredy broken when i got it and have some other issues i want to use it for school so i dont have to plug it everytime, if anyone can help me it would be great

-intel atom n550

-2gb ram

-160 hdd 

-linux mint xfce 19.3

I'd say the battery is cooked, you can check by either installing a monitoring program like HWmonitor and checking the wear level, or the rudimentary way by unplugging it while it's on, and seeing if it dies immediately.

Sounds like the battery got disconnected or doesn't have the capacity to hold any of it's power. Unless you can get to the battery and take it out and replace it idk if it'll be able to run on it's own steam. If it says an error message such as 'battery unable...' then it's probably a problem with the battery

After i pull out the battery its still turning on, the battery definetly cooked

Third party batterys do exist, the ones I found by some googling cost between 40 and 80€, depending on capacity.

Edit: I meant unplug the Laptop from wall power with the battery inside, if it would die immediately that means that the battery holds little to no charge.
