Why not mount the res to the pump, use one of the out ports on the res for the loop and one for a drain. much simpler/cleaner.

You don't want any solid fittings between a pump (which vibrates) and anything else.

You don't want any solid fittings between a pump (which vibrates) and anything else.

 

I have not really found that to be an issue, I got my reservoir hooked to my pump with 2 rotary male/male fittings and a ball valve in between and it is pretty silent. I have this set up with both D5 and DDC pumps too. Of course, "silent" is subjective but all I can say is that my pump is no louder than my flow meter or the fans I have at idle.

The volume is not the issue. The vibration can make the connection loose over time, making it prone to failure.

Plus those male to male fittings don't look like they are rotary, you might run into problems with all the parts lining up correctly, it will be all down to when the threads, start / stop.
