3.5mm windows issue

I used to be able to use the microphone of my headset via 3.5mm. This was becasue everytime i plugged it in a notification would open on the corner "what did you plug in ?" and id select headset and it'd register my mic as well. now its stuck as a pair or "headphones" so it doesnt register the mic, only the sound and i dont see this notificatoion anywhere (with notfis on ) and in the sounds setting i cant find anything.
my question is there a way to bring back the notfication or a way to fix this issue altogether (Win 11 home btw)

You're using a 4 pole connector for your headset? Way to know is it will have 3 black rings. 3 pole only have 2.

did you change anything on the pc between when it used to prompt you and now

yes i am using a 4 pole connector (razer barracuda X if that helps )

yeah about that i am not entirley sure but i had this notifiaction before
