Hello !

hope that I’m in the right topic but I had a question regarding my fan layout in my pc.

I currently got 1x200mm Noctua fan as intake in the front and a 120mm Cooler Master fan in the back as exhaust, I also have 2x 120mm NZXT fans as exhaust in the top but I’m not sure if I should flip those 2 around to use em as intakes.

would greatly appreciate some advice <3

What case?

I'd say leave them as exhaust in the furthermost back they can go.

Do you have room on the bottom to add a fan?  If so, I'd do 1 of each then.

It’s a pretty old case, it’s the Cooler Master 690 III (3) there might be some room on the bottom but the cables/connectors of the power supply would hover over the fan.

I think you have got too much exhaust. You should do one more for intake on the bottom but an intake fan on the top is not that efficient

I’ll pull one of the 2 exhausts from the top and put it on the bottom

thanks for the advice everyone !

The ultimate decider is what gets you the best temps. If that means one fan in and one fan out on top, that's the best. Every build has different possibilities.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

If you found yourself having dust problems and/or are using dust filters, I will suggest making a positive pressure system, where more fans are pointing inward than outward. However, it won't really work unless you have no empty space left on the case (e.g., populate every single fan mount, or tape/seal off openings like extra fan mounts or unused PCIe slots)

(don't worry about what I just wrote)

That is a fairly old case. While I am a fan (ha) of 5.25 bays and lots of 3.5 sleds, I don't think most people nowadays would need any of that.

It has a side vent. Mount a 120 on the side .. ?

I feel like it's going to get cleaner (and fresher) air on the side, but if you find it annoying or impossible, then yes, top exhaust and bottom intake. Blow some fresh air toward the PCIe area.
