Could a powerful wet vacuum replace a high end vacuum? Which wet vac is most powerful?

If you are talking about using a shop vac in place of a household vacuum cleaner... with a lack of brushes in the suction head to beat the carpet fibers back and forth to help break up and release dirt and contaminates, i doubt it would be very effective. 

 

That and shop vacs do not filter the exhaust air in the way a household vacuum does. Shop vacs have very rudimentary filters. 

I've seen drywall dust pass right through the filter and out the exhaust.
