Hello everyone! (excuse my english)

I'm looking to see if anyone can help me out with this pc I'm planning to have build. As my current setup is over 5 years old, it's time to start out fresh again.

My current need for the pc is to have something that can do well in 4K gaming and potentialy some video editing.

For some context:

- I'll be using this pc in a somewhat enclosed room with possibility of having an open window. Temps can get to +/- 30C in the summer

- I do not have favor towards a brand, but would stick with intel if possible, as it's been my go to for all my pc years

- There are no plans to upgrade this pc bit by bit, the next upgrade would most likely be a complete new build. Looking for some potential years os use

- I'm not looking to min/max, unless my budget allows it

- I play many different genres of games and I'm not deadset on one single game. Games consist of the more populair triple A titles

- Functionality over looks. But if the components just happen to match... well... you know what i mean

- ... ask away!

As for the build, I'm setting my mind on a RTX4080. Reason why is that,I'm getting a big boost for an upgrade anyway, I'd rather spend the money difference from an rtx4090 on improving the other components.

Is this a smart move? You tell me, please.

Here is the component list, with current seller prices. (from place where pc is being built).

Solid build already. However, if you want to maximized the build, as I assumed that you want a white build, I would go with this one. But even if you want to keep your own parts, at least go with 14900k and don't get the F variant. For the extra €30, you will probably save a lot of headaches for a troubleshooting/s that may or may not happen in the future. There are some apps that the igpu is helping too. As for the ssd, the change is for the fact that samsung isn't the best anymore. There are others at the same or better quality at a lower price now. While for the ram, you really don't need 7000mhz one. It would just consume more power and no real performance impact. Intel isn't really as ram intensive like amd is. So You can just get a 5600-6000 parts. At the same or  lower price you can get a 64gb. If anything, just get the lowest latency you can get like a a CL28-32 that are rated at 5600-6400.

But if it's a performance first build I would go with these:

you can change the fans to a noctua and the AIO to an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360/420, a bit more affordable as well. Made sure that the storage is huge as well but not overly expensive.

You may want to get a K version instead of the KF. The iGPU includes Quicksync which can accelerate certain video encoding.

According to pcpartpicker the price differential between 1TB and 500GB 980 Pro is less than €15 in Belgium. I've never regretted having more storage.  Although I'd probably spend the extra €30 for a 1TB 990 Pro instead.

Consider getting an ATX 3.0 compliant PSU with native support for the 12VHPWR connector used by the GPU. The new Seasonic Focus GX-1000 ATX 3.0 would be a good choice. Other options would be the Corsair RM1000e and Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W.

It's outrageously priced, but if you want a white PSU and cables there is a Thermaltake GF3 Snow 1200.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

A few things stand out.

1. Look for a ATX 3.0 PCIe 5.0 psu for the RTX 40XX gpu's.

2. You will find it easier to set your timings with DDR5-6000

3. The RTX 4080 Super 20GB (more VRAM and CUDA cores) is due for release next month for around the same price as the 4080 16GB which will be phased out by Nvidia as soon as the 4080 Super is released.

For 4K, CPU performance is way less important. I don't see the point going i9. 7800X3D will be plenty fast and depending on the game, even faster than the 14900K. That's already a 400 eur saving.

Samsung storage has a very strong brand presence now so overpriced. You could get nearly more than double the storage for similar pricing, 5TB.

If the goal is 4k with a budget more than 3k a 4090 is really the only option here. Don't stop gap. Go all the way.

At least buy a PSU that has a one cable solution that new NVIDIA needs, one 12 PWRM connector. Should cost the same anyway. Bad deal that old PSU. Here are your options.

Buy a windows key from a reseller. x10 cheaper. Only downside is it can only be used once.
