Some text is blurry in Windows 11!

PowerPCFan

Specs and info before I introduce the problem:

Windows 11 Home, not activated

Monitor 1 - 1440p, 170hz, 125% scaling

Monitor 2 - 1080p, 75hz, 100% default scaling

Sometimes (it seems to almost ALWAYS be in Windows-related things such as the Start menu or Task Manager) text appears blurry. It's very annoying. Here's an (awful) MS Paint drawing to show the problem. You should probably download it just so you can zoom in. Not sure if the LTT forum lets you do that or not. (**Edit: right-clicking and opening the image in a new tab works great**)

I'm assuming it has to do with the scaling being 125% on one and 100% on the other. It seems to MOSTLY fix itself when I switch the scaling to the same on both monitors. I can't switch that though, because 100% on monitor 1 is too small and 125% on monitor 2 is too big.

I already used the Adjust ClearType Text control panel. Didn't work.

Once again, it's most likely the scale but the weird thing is that when I got my second monitor I didn't have this problem when I first bought it.

*Edit -- it's intermittent too, it just stopped for a little bit and came back

There are a number of different things to try on that page. How long has it been doing it?

Thanks for that link but I've already tried all those things with no success.

Probably the past 3 weeks or so. I got my second monitor 2 months ago.

  • 1 month later...

I had the same problem Something worked with me is, disabling dp overclock from monitor settings and use the monitor @ 165hz, I guess its because 165 is the native capacity and somehow overclocking it to 170 fuggs with the pixels, anyways it worked, Maybe just turning it down from just the windows settings will do, good luck

Good idea, but I think the problem is that when I played games with integrated graphics, I would constantly go into settings and downscale the res. from 1440p to 1080p in the OS. A restart would fix it. My new 6700xt can do 1440p, so I never have to change the resolution, and ever since I got it the problem has gone away.
