PC randomly shuts down

iNFECTEM

Hi there LTT community,

Before I continue, I would like to apologies if this topic is not in the relevant forum section.

I started to experience one issue related to my PC where it just randomly shuts down when I play certain games for example Ready or not, Need for Speed Heat, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order etc.

By my investigation how to fix this issue I started to lower down graphic settings from Ultra/Epic to Medium or even Low but that was not the case resolver.

Also, I disassembled and assembled everything physically in my PC just to make sure that everything is seated in and connected properly.

When the PC randomly crashes, PC loses power completely and in order to power it back on, I need to take out the power cable, set PSU switch to 0, hold the power button for few seconds to draw remaining electricity from capacitors and then plug everything back in.

This issue has started ever since I upgraded my GPU from GTX 1070 ROG Strix to RTX 3070 ROG Strix and everything rest is the same. Down below you can find my current PC details:

CASE: Cooler Master SGC-6000-KKN1-GP
PSU: Fortron EVEREST 800W 80PLUS
MB: GA-AX370-Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0)
CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600X - 3.70GHz - 4.60GHz
CPU COOLER: Corsair H100i v2
GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX RTX3070 8G GAMING
RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE® LPX 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
SSD: Western Digital SN730 NVMe SSD 1TB
HDD: Western Digital Black 1TB

Could the issue be related with PSU when playing or doing anything which requires more throughput power towards GPU or any component, or could it mean that the GPU is at fault?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

sounds like PSU related issue, not handling the transient spikes of 3070 well perhaps,

you might reduce the graphics detail, but the GPU will just crank more fps,

try turning on Vsync/forcing 60fps or lowering power limit of the GPU if you have an app for that and see if that helps (because if it helps, it might be PSU)

That's some pretty weird behavior.

Since the only thing you changed is the graphics card, that's the most likely issue.

It might not be faulty. You should reset those connections for PCIe and power. And might as well DDU while you're at it.

Do you have any PSU which you would recommend for this current setup mentioned above?

So as @podkall said, I did the re-assemble and also DDU that didn't help at all

I was gonna say that an 800w unit should be fine,  but I googled that model and it looks like.... REALLY old.

Probably won't have to go much higher power, but something more modern (and brand name) wouldn't hurt

Or, you can find a PSU, name it here, and me or someone else can tell you if it's good or not.

Simple
