I would be interested in a video about technology used by homesteaders and similar types of people (off-gridders etc). I recently started watching a YouTuber by the name of Nate Petroski (@Narrowayhomestead) and I think it would be really cool to see LMG work with this guy to demonstrate off grid style tech (disclaimer: I don't know him personally and have never talked to him so he might not be interested, but I do think it would make an interesting video).  I am a city boy and an urbanist at heart, but I love to learn about other people's lives especially when they are radically deferent than my own. I think as a species we need empathy now more than ever. I am not saying this would be the best video ever made, but I think it would be really interesting. Also I'm pretty sure Mr. Petroski is a PC gamer. Thoughts and opinions? Any and all constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!

Live long and prosper,

Alpaca

Not sure where that guy is based at but something like that they would have to be very local to LMG.
I am kind of surprised to not see them doing any renewable energy stuff mixed in with all the house build videos they make. seems like an easy thing to get sponsors for and have done.
I am not familiar with Canadian laws though, and its very likely that there are restrictions on what an unlicensed person can do. There is also the worker safety concerns both in diy and the filming. It is costly and time consuming to train camera operators to work on roofs safely, or from bucket lifts, ect. Unfortunately, drones dont carry the necessary equipment to meet their filming standards.

Like to this day the only renewable resource stuff I've seen them work with is those battery things they got sponsored on to put in a van.
I dont think many other homesteading tech would apply to their main viewers, or their content directions

Cheap ones don't, but there are large drones that can carry RED cameras.

I believe Nate is in Virginia or one of the other southeastern states, quite far from LMG. He also covers his own tech setup stuff already so I don't see what he'd need a collab with LTT for. Doesn't seem the type of guy to want to add a bunch of stuff he doesn't have an actual use for.

LTT could just do their own off-grid tech vids if they wanted to, they've done a couple less serious ones with stuff like the PC build for camping and such. If they took it more seriously they could definitely make some cool videos.

They touch upon off-grid power (and Jackery products specifically) in the tech boat video:

His accent is Eastern Kentucky, Western Virginia (not West Virginia). He has an Appalachian twang to it.

Source: I have the same accent.

He did move to where he is now, isn't native to that area. From the site (https://narrowayhomestead.com) seems it is West Virginia specifically: "NarroWay Homestead is an outdoor and adventure shop located off the grid of west virginia".

Curious. A lot of people wanting to homestead are moving into this slice of Appalachia - even from other parts of Appalachia closer to the towns. We’re seeing an influx of people.

I'd assume the land is pretty cheap vs elsewhere. Local/State gov likely cares less about what you do too, so there's less red tape when DIYing buildings or living in a trailer. My local gov (I live in middle TN) technically does care, but unless someone bitches to them they won't do anything, they don't actively go around trying to boss people around over what they do on their own land.

Local government gives literally zero shits what you do on your own property unless it’s something illegal like making meth or murdering people.

I wish that was true. It is easier to stay under the radar as long as you're quiet or don't have nosy neighbors, true. But, it only takes one half-ass complaint or lie from your Karen neighbor to put you on the radar of a local government. Unfortunately, there are far more incentives for local governments to start pushing regulations once a noncompliance is found then there is for them to shrug and say whatever.

That said, for the topic at hand, I'd love to see LTT or the Labs do some tests/reviews on certain techs as they become cheaper and more accessible. For instance, apparently Harbor Freight is beginning to sell solar energy components, including the panels, controllers and battery maintainers. How reliable are they, how do they stack up to both marketing buzz and their competitors, how likely are they to burn your house down, etc?
