Im looking to upgrade my memory and was wondering is DDR3 2666OC the same as DDR3 2666?

Reason I'm asking is on my motherboard site it says the max supported memory is 2666OC

Also Was wondering if my choice of memory is good or if there is better? Main think i see is Speed and caseLatency.

Lastly how much of a difference dose 32gb over 16gb make? is there a noticeable difference?

That RAM is insanely overkill, what will you be using your PC for?

Gaming, and overkills kinda the point. My uncle, Who is rich and single, for graduation told me to pick out the fastest memory I could find for my computer for my graduation gift. However I wont be a dick and buy 32gb if there isn't a noticeable difference between it and 16gb.

For gaming you literally won't see a difference between that 450$ kit and a 60$ 1600mhz 8gb kit. What are your full specs? There are probably better places to improve than RAM.

-yes Non OC means it's by default 2666Mhz, and OC means Overclocked it will reach 2666Mhz

-16GB over 8Gb will make a different in some cases, 32GB over 16GB is worthless unless you want the bling, also Memory Latency and Speed is not that important, as log as you use a 1600Mhz 16GB kit, it will deliver the best bang for the buck and any thing above that is just a waste

Just get another 8gb stick, no need to waste money.

Is that difficult and risky?

i wouldn't say risky but i would say worthless, because OCing the Ram will work for a few days and than start causing problems and shutdowns all over the place, so when evr you're not fully satisfyed with the performance of your Ram and want faster loadig times or wahtever, Don't tweak, upgrade

So you recommend nothing faster than 1600?

or your saying dont overclock the memory.

What about buying 2666 memory because my motherboard supports "DDR3 2666(OC)/1600/1333/1066"

well that theory is wrong, you'd be better with slower 1600Mhz 16GB Kit than any faster but smaler other kits, Larger Ram Means More Performance, Faster Ram Means a Small Tiny Litle bit of preformance improvement , i'm telling ya, just Get a 1600Mhz 16GB Kit because any thing above that wont even make a difference

i recommend both, any thing More Than 1600Mhz is a waste and since it's 16GB, more than enough for any thing, and Don't mess with it ever, as i said, if you feel like you need more performance out of it, upgrade

G.Skill king of memory! And don't buy 1600mhz, we're living in 2014 not in 2010, lol.

Ok im confused some people say that it dosnt mater, others say Defiantly.

For those who think it dosnt mater, dose it not mater because there is no noticeable difference, or because there is no need for the extra performance.

It's not noticeable. But question is: Why go 1600mhz when there are 2400mhzs already out. Yes price is little higher, but if money is no issue, grab the fastest ones. G.Skill Trident X RAMs are very good!
