I want to hopefully get a simple answer to this question, its not really a matter of money its more just I cant get a straight answer from google for this question.

If i wanted to get a SSD for my ROG ally to upgrade it, is having one with a Dram cache worth the extra 20 or so dollars for it? ive seen 2230 m.2 drives for 60 dollars or 90 dollars depending on if it has one and if it doesnt affect performance too much (or at all) i would opt for the cheaper one. But if it dramatically impacts performance then i would save up for the larger one.

thanks for any help!

I'd say DRAM cache is always worth it on an SSD, especially considering that its an APU with only 16GB of RAM/VRAM.

thats kinda what i was leaning to anyway. i just didnt know if it *actually* mattered for this specific use case. ill most likely wait for a good deal. I was scoping out multiple stores for black friday and cyber monday but i didnt find any really significant discounts on the good 2230s

Just curious, is the Ally something you're main driving as a gaming PC? I got my Steam Deck OLED on Friday and spent about half of my gaming time on it this weekend. 512GB version would fill up very fast if I chose to install the ~100GB games, but I don't intend on using the Deck for those games.
