Streaming from Linux to Android

So I am looking to stream movies from my Ubuntu 12.04 desktop to my Android 4.1.3 but these prissy OS's don't like to talk to each other, what could I use to effectively stream from my living room to my bedroom?

Why do you always die right after I fix you?
