Need help choosing GPU

I currently have  a AMD 7770 in my system. I have $300 AUD in the bank to spend on a new GPU. Which will get me the most FPS for my money?

You could get a 280, 270x, or 760. 

 

A 280x is $320 on pccasegear, save and get that.

There are two (Modern) pairs of video cards that I can think of for that price (I think, if I'm converting it right). Either the GTX 760/r9 280, or the GTX 770/r9 280x.

 

From the threads I've seen comparing both cards, the r9 280 seems to be the recommended choice for the former pair, whereas the GTX 770 is usually the recommendation for the second pair. Then again, that's only from what I've seen. If I were you though, I'd shell out a few extra dollars for the GTX 770 or r9 280x. I think it's worth it in the long run.

I was thinking about going nvidia this time sooo i might go for the gtx 760. If only there was something between a gtx 760 and a 770

 I am trying to get the new GPU before watch dogs comes out so that i can play it with good frames. In australia the R9 280x is $350 and the GTX 770 is $400

Then go for it, the R9 280 is actually faster than the GTX760, but if you need the Shadowplay feature, then by all means get the GTX760.

The the 760 is best on Nvidia, but the 280 is better. Maybe save the money to get the 280x, it's not that much more for a decent performance boost.

But if you can stretch your budget by another 10%, that is $330, the XFX DD R9 280X (link in my previous post) would be significantly faster than the R9 280 and GTX760. It comes with 3 games as well.......can't beat that!

Yep, that's what I'm suggesting to the OP, the R9 280X at AUS $330 is a very good buy, it's way faster than the vanilla R9 280......

Shadowplay is overrated, a Core i5 with Dxtory will net you the same performance so long as you use RAID HDD's or a dedicated drive.
