Water-based air purifiers?

I own a traditional air purfiier with HEPA filter, but it seems to struggle to keep up with very dusty environment we are in.

 

So I wanted to add additional air purifiers in our home and was wondering about the effectiveness of so called water revitalizers, air purifiers that use water as filter.

 

Do they actually just blast the air into the water?
