RAM questions

Go to solution Solved by rheyL,

i'm too scared to tweak my ram voltage..

i'll just keep this at 400MHz as of now, till my next processor upgrade

so running on the lowest is safe and fine..

tried running it on 533MHz it booted up, but sadly it can't play games..

NBA2K14 hangs up.. SMITE hangs up.. and every other games i play..

thank you for such a quick response guys!

good day everyone, i'm a kinda new here and i got some questions..

here it goes..

this is my system rig

Athlon II x2 240 2.8GHz

2x2GB Corsair Dominator 1600Hz rams DDR3

ASRock  N68C-GS FX motherboard

the rams was my latest upgrade, after i plugged them in, the motherboard just clock it to auto

to the point my processor can handle.. it went fine, browsing the internet via chrome

watching movies, listening to music.. until such time i tried playing my games.. my pc CRASH T__T

after that i set up the ram frequency in the bios to the lowest which is 400MHz

then booted up, and my games went fine and smooth.. no more crash/hangups

my question is, i just saw that my processor can support up to DDR3 1066 which is 533MHz

why is it that it gives me crashes?

here is the processor specs --> http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Athlon%20II%20X2%20240%20-%20ADX240OCK23GQ%20(ADX240OCGQBOX).html

and another question, does running my rams to the lowest is safe and fine?

i'm still saving to upgrade my processor.. (sorry for an ancient rig  )

I hate that motherboard (look in my sig). Anyway, these motherboards really suck, and sometimes they don't really do what they're supposed to. I have to run my RAM a little under too, but then again, my board is an oddball. They have a 95 watt? CPU TDP limit, and I was easily pulling 130 with my CPU when I pushed it to 4.6GHz.

Running to lowest yes it is safe and fine 400mhz at DDRate means 800mhz i used to run phenom ii x4 3.6ghz CPU and battlefield 3 with 4gb of ram at 800mhz and it didnt bottleneck so yes you are fine.

You should put it to 533 if it works,it should work higher than that too but you probably need to increase the ram voltage or maybe the motherboard doesnt support it very well.

Until upgrade try 533 youll be fine.
