I know this may be random question but has anyone used the Maya Autodesk indie version? When I was in High School I graduated early and did what we called tech prep. Basically I went to gym in the morning then took actual college classes in the afternoon. When I did that, I used the Maya program and really enjoyed it. I went to buy it and seen that now it is all subscription based and you can't outright buy it. I seen that they had an indie version of it and was curious is it the same as the full version, and if not, what is the difference between the two? It will be just for personal use and I'd rather pay the $300 and some odd for a year instead of the $1,800 the normal version cost a year. Lastly seeing that it been a few years, what are some good tutorials to brush up on it.

When I was learning Maya before I switched to blender, one of the best tutorials I found for hard surface modeling and learning tips and trick was from https://elementza.com/. It is pricey but worth it imo.

Here is the youtube for his stuff. He has lots of free tutorials to look at even though they maybe a few years old it may help.

Job wise what is better to learn? I have a text book on blender as well and am also doing that on the side.

Animation studios typically use Maya, 3D Motion Graphics typically uses C4D, and Blender is great if you're just on your own or on a small indie team that already uses it. The great thing about 3D software is that it's relatively easy to switch between then now.
