Need clarification on audio frequency

In Parallel: A capacitor in parallel with a subwoofer generally allows low frequencies to pass and attenuates higher frequencies.

 

In Series: Placing a capacitor in series with a subwoofer would act as a high-pass filter, allowing higher frequencies to pass while blocking lower frequencies.

The only caveat is, please don`t connect a capacitor directly in parallel to a subwoofer without anything between it and the amplifier, since at higher frequencies, it will be a short circuit for the amplifier, which might damage it.
