is it alright if i plug in a 3 pin 5v argb cord into a addr_led1 header?

Jman07

hi i’m working on my pc and the motherboard im using is an asrock x570m pro4 and it has a header for “addr_led1”. is that the same as argb because i want to plug in my argb case fan into it but i don’t want to fry anything. the addr_led1 header has the same pin pattern as the argb cord from the fan so it is possible but i don’t know if it’ll work the way i want it to. will this work?

Yes it should

Page 57 of your motherboard's manual :

ARGB = Addressable RGB

RGB strips , fans, whatever uses LED (Light Emitting Diode).

So Asrock called the header Addressable LED, which in essence Addressable Light Emitting Diode instead of Addressable RGB (Red Green Blue)

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

Do not plug 3 pin aRGB into a 4 pin RGB. The manual labels the pins wins. I can't remember who did a video of this, but it some permanent damage.

If it's marked addressable LED and has 3 pins with a gap, that is the correct one.

As @alyensaid, if it has 4 pins, don't try.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
