i'm starting out in minecraft a bit and want to have a good looking game like youtubers have in there 100 days but don't know what to install. i have an rtx 3080 so i got the power...

what do you recommend for a hd nice looking minevraft ?

thanks alot

I would recommend getting Fabric and installing the Sodium mod and the Iris Shaders mod. Iris adds shader support to Fabric and Sodium massively improves your performance by various optimisations. Then for shaders, I quite like the SEUS PTGI HRR, though it likes to crash randomly and tank my frame rate when I come close to trees. (the crashes could be because the GPU suddenly wants to access way more than its 8GB of VRAM and the swap can't react quick enough, just a theory though) I'm also using the stratum 128x texture pack. The SEUS shader is all about realistic looking Minecraft, but I can also recommend Sildurs Vibrant, which is very performant, even on its highest detail version. I also quite like the complementary reimagined. It looks like the Minecraft lighting, but it's much better with some subtle reflections and it also runs very well (at around 100 FPS on my 3060Ti with the Stratum 128x texture pack)

Since you got a 3080, install the Iris mod which massively improves performance with shaders compared to the legacy "Optifine" mod everyone knows. My favourite high quality shader is the Sildur's Vibrant shaders v1.51 Extreme - Volumetric lighting pack. The volumetric lighting is an effect many other shader packs miss out on, but has a huge impact to visuals imo.

With that setup i still get around 120 fps at 4K and 12-14 chunks of view distance. If you are fine with 60 fps you can go 16-20 chunks of view distance. At lower resolution you can probably go with even higher view distances.

As for resource packs, i like the Faithful x32 pack, which slightly ups the resolution, while staying "faithful" to the original style of the game. It also doesn't suck back any performance. There are also unofficial (as in "not from it's original author", and sometimes not 100% complete) upscaled faithful resource packs that go to x64 or higher resolution. If you go with a higher resolution one, also use the x32 pack with reduced priority so it covers the missing textures from the high resolution pack.

And old-school classic for a more realistic resource pack is Misa's.

If you want a nice mediveal look, the Conquest x32 pack is insanely good with many small details and alternative models and textures depending on neighbouring blocks, but it's pretty performance intensive.

If you just want high resolution textures and don't care if they look cartoony, Sphax PureBD Craft is also great and available up to x512 resolution. It's optional addons also include many 3D models for blocks and items that are typically 2D.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
