What are your full specs?

Normally I'd get a m.2 if you have a free slot, otherwise you probably have a 2.5 or 3.5in bay in your case for a hdd/ssd.

I have already a nvme m2 installed on my pc, i just want to add another storage device.

Depending on the motherboard, you might have 2 m.2 slots.

I was thinking of buying a hdd or ssd for my desktop, then I came across form factor, what form factor ssd or hdd should I choose? Is form factor some kind of compatibility term for motherboard?

Generally, for desktops, you can use any sata form factor you want(2.5 or 3.5) for your motherboard, it generally comes down to what you have space for in your case.

As for m.2 drives, you'll need to look up the manual for your motherboard, but they usually should be able to accept m.2 2280 nvme drives, as that's the most common for desktop.
