Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

Hello All,

Current system:

Asus TUF B550-F Gaming

Ryzen 7 3800X

Gigabyte 6750XT

Crucial Vengeance LPX 4000MHz (4x8)

Samsung 970 SSD (2x2TB)

Corsair Keyboard and Mouse

Windows 11 Pro (all updates installed)

BIOS 3205 (Most current version)

I have been having a problem with my PC and it's driving me nuts.  For some time now, don't know how long, I  have continually received the USB sound notification that some unknown USB device is being either plugged in, or removed, from my machine.  That dinging sound is random but it is often, ever couple of minutes it will go off and I can't seem to find the cause.

When it does go off, if I am fast enough, I can catch the following error in the Device Manager.

Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

That is the only indication of something wrong.  All devices have the most updated drivers.  The only USB devices that I have installed are my keyboard and mouse.

Any help or ideas on how to fix the problem will be greatly appreciated and I thank everyone for taking the time to read my message for help.

Take care and good luck.

Well, you tell us. What USB devices do you have plugged in ?

If you read the entire message, you will see the only USB devices that I have plugged in are the keyboard and the mouse.

right click on the "error device " look for vendor ID... anything that could help us to identify it.

could be your mouse or kb, but you'd probably notice that... point is it is "something" and that info is in your pc, be it device manager or event viewer...
