Hi people! First time posting here!

Hope someone might know how to solve this problem

I'm having trouble with an old Asus board K8V-X SE paired with a AMD Sempron, video via a AGP ATI Radeon 9250 (if it get to that part)

All of that running off a no-name 450W psu

What's happening:

Nothing! It seems to turn on, spin up the cooler, but that's it, apart from emmiting a strange click sound from the buzzer once, it does absolutely nothing else.

What I already tried:

Bios reset

Both RAM slots, and cleaning them

Another CPU (same model)

Plugging in an IDE Hard Drive (IDK why)

There was a couple of bloated caps, but I've replaced them

And I think that's all

Fell free to ask more about the system

Obligatory P.S.

Spotted any grammar mistakes? Please correct, still improving my English skills 😉

Servus Nicolas

replace that CR2032 battery also called bios battery if you havn't done that already.  If you measure it, anything lower than 3.0V should warrant a replacement.

i see there are a few jumpers on that board, make sure they are set correctly.

that board is from 2005.. i would inspect the board closely, check that all components are still soldered properly, as in that age range they tend to get so called "cold" solder joints. where they are separating.

Check the north and south bridge, make sure there not hot as they might of failed. Also boards from the that era can suffer bios corruption or as mentioned above semprons were released much later and may not be compatible out of the box.

Debug cards are really useful if you can hold of PCI one.

If there were bloated caps, could they have damaged anything (or be indicative of other damage)?

Is the Sempron supported "out of the box"?

Could the problem actually be the video card rather than the motherboard?

I've inspected the board around those caps, they don't seem to have leaked any electrolyte around!

I never checked if this board natively supports a Sempron without a bios update, as they came together, I'll be looking into it!

I'm trying to get another video card for test porpouses, I've tried booting with the card removed, because I thought it could be a problem, but even then it didn't even beep 😕
