  1. Hello everyone, I have a b450m aourus with a rizen 5 3600x and I just bought an rx 6600 and I want to enable the ri-size bar or amd SAM, some friends tell me that I have to update my bios, others that I have to have a series processor amd 5000 but I've researched on the internet and seen many videos and some cpu with the same specifications as mine and the technology activated, how can I do it or if I have to actually upgrade to the 5000 series or just by updating my bios, truth be told, it's been a while. I'm breaking my head searching and I can't figure out how to do it or what to do, thank you very much, I hope for your help.

Try to find a setting in your bios for re size bar if not try updating the bios and check again. Both ur gpu and cpu support re size bar.

  1. I have already searched, my bios is updated to version f40 and in version f60 it says the following:
  2. Update AMD AGESA ComboV2 1.2.0.0 for Ryzen™ 5000/ 4000 series processors support
  3. AMD Smart Access Memory function support

Can it be done or is it only for the 5000 series I'm a bit clumsy for thi

Unless said otherwise, BIOS updates only add support for new CPUs, they don't remove support for CPUs*

(there have been some cases of this happening, but there are always big warnings saying "this new chip won't work, do not update if you have one of those chips")

thx bro eso

That means that they implement it so it doesn't prevent me from installing it. I mean, if I ever change to a 5000 series I wouldn't have to update my bios and then I can have the re-size bar.

That's correct but OP has to be *really* careful about updating to a BIOS that possibly doesn't support their cpu anymore...

ps: nah, my msi b350 didn't have any such warnings,  maybe in the fineprint, but certainly not huge.

Also, everyone seems to think the gpu supports rebar or however this nonsense is called... but its definitely possible that needs a vbios update as well, no?

i know my 3070 would, but hell if i update a perfectly working system for highly questionable gains...

same goes for windows afaik, it has a minimum version requirement as well.

Basically... OP has to make sure *everything* is updated to latest compatible version (bios, chipset, vbios, windows...)

yeah, so read the f40 description before updating,  follow the instructions,  and especially make sure it doesn't remove support for your current cpu.
