If you want 32 gigs of ram as well then yes

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor  (€328.26 @ Mindfactory)
Motherboard: MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard  (€108.66 @ notebooksbilliger.de)
Memory: G.Skill Aegis 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  (€64.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card  (€605.90 @ Alza)
Total: €1107.72

Budget (including currency): max €1000

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: DaVinci Resolve 4k h.264 videos, Lightroom Editing, Mostly older games (Skyrim, Minecraft, Factorio, They are Billions, ...), but I would like to be able to play games like Bladurs Gate 3 and Starfield without having to upgrade once again.

Other details:

Current Build:

Ryzen 5600x

GTX 1080 from GIGABYTE

16 GB 3600 ddr4

600w BeQuiet 80+ Gold Power supply

My PC Case cannot hold anything bigger than a 30 cm long Graphics Card

60hz 27" 1080p Display

The CPU is clearly too weak to handle my Video Editing demands, and the GPU is too weak for even Minecraft with Shaders and good view distance (24+ chunks), and nowhere near powerful enough for Starfield, RAM is a limiting factor when creating timelapse Videos from thousands of single Images, ...

So now I am unsure where to upgrade to and what to upgrade.

Yes I need to Upgrade CPU, RAM and GPU, but can I do that while keeping the same Main board and Power supply and PC Case or am I better of Upgrading all of that as well?

Because I have seen that I can get a RTX 3080 for 400 or less on the used market, but for that I will have to upgrade my PC Case and my Power supply, Which will make the Upgrade cost at least 600 for the GPU alone.

I am also not sure if the limiting factor for my Video render issues is just multicore performance, or if I need to upgrade to ryzen 7000 or Intel 12/13 series, because single core is more the issue. And I also don't know how much CPU power I need for smooth Video playback in DaVinci resolve when rendering 4k Videos.

This is where I need advice on. Thank you for any help!

Power supply

your psu will probably need an upgrade

PC Case

but your pc case might be fine. Even if it isn't most good cases are like 60 euros and come with 4 fans

Main board

what model is it specifically?

RTX 3080 for 400

you could also get a 4070 though and that would mean you wouldn't need to upgrade your pc case or psu. Also means your power bill will probably be lower (In germany power is quite expensive right?)

Try this upgrade

Yes, very much so.

your psu will probably need an upgrade

Why?

you could also get a 4070 though and that would mean you wouldn't need to upgrade your pc case or psu.

So I will have to spend ~€600 on a GPU Upgrade? Either I get a cheaper card, but will have to upgrade other PC parts, or I get a more expensive card without needing to upgrade other parts?

So I mainly need more multicore performance?

Why?

if you get the 4070 you won't need to upgrade the psu but if you get the 3080 you will have to since the 3080s and 3070s and up have transient spike issues so at least need an 850w psu but 1000w is better

your choice

for rendering yes

Btw what cpu cooler do you have?

the 5900x won't run on this motherboard however so you'll need a new one

Mostly because the power delivery is terrible on this board

you could just get the 5700x as well though

you could just get the 5700x as well thoug

The 5700x is only 15% faster in multicore if the benchmarks are anything to go by, so I don't think that upgrade will be big enough.

Do I understand correctly that in order to get a powerful enough CPU (50%+ over 5600x) and GPU 50%+ over 1080), together with the other needed components I will need to spend more than €1000?
