Was installing updates after so long, and it automatically started to download Windows 11. I quickly unplugged my internet and disabled updates. should I commit for the upgrade? I don't mind have new features as long as performance is same. It is a fact of programming, that a newer a program is, the harder it is to run, and Windows is no exception. I remember installing it on my older laptop with a hard drive, and performance was unacceptable. So, I am afraid upgrading on my newer laptop. It has a 10th gen processor, 8GB ram and SSD.

PLEASE MARK COMMENTS AS SOLUTION IF SATISFIED!!

bigger number better, makes me look cooler.

thats not true. For windows, usually a new version runs better than the end of the old one. Same with windows 11, its felt better than 10 on slower devices.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

W11 is pretty similar when it comes to performance to W10, in some things it's worse and some it's better (very slightly)

and the only real issue of W11 would be if you have a small amount of RAM, because it does slightly take up more ram, which can be a deal-breaker for people that constantly have 50 Chrome tabs open

Windows 11 is fine, I even forced it through WSUS on my network after daily driving it since day 1 at home and on my work computer. Worst part about it is some Control Panel settings force you into Settings now versus Win10.

honestly, they just need to commit to the settings app. they have it, they keep moving things to settings, but they dont commit. things being spread across the two is honestly, kinda frusturating.

My only point of contention is when they force you to jump back and force between them to get to a feature which Win11 does with various things. The way it handles Networking and NIC configuration has you jumping between Control Panel and Settings, instead of letting you stay in Control Panel like Win10 does. There's also features within the Settings version of the same configuration that don't exist or function as they should that force you to go to Control Panel. Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and Advanced Sharing Settings being the worst example I can think of immediately.

I still prefer the control menu because it's easier to navigate in with its Windows Explorer style setup. It's mostly a prosumer limitation which is why I have no issue recommend Win11 to anyone, since prosumers will adapt as needed and standard consumers won't care.

Hell, I've even forced employees that aren't tech savvy at all in retirement age to switch to Win11 and haven't gotten a single complaint.

yea, like i said, they need to commit to it. Them having things slowly move is frustratingly and confusing
