Your only option is to install ThrottleStop and have that run all the time. I attached a screenshot showing my setup which is configured to sustain 45 watts and "turbo" to 50 (to get to this screen you hit the TPL button).

@flibberdipper

I recommend clearing the Sync MMIO box, checking the MMIO Lock box and checking both Clamp boxes in the Power Limit Controls section.

This is more efficient. Once the MMIO power limits are locked, ThrottleStop no longer needs to waste time and CPU cycles constantly checking and adjusting the MMIO power limits.

Setting the turbo time limit to 64 seconds is too much for most laptops. If your computer cannot run at the higher PL2 power limit for 64 seconds without overheating then the time limit should be lowered. About 8 seconds is a more realistic value for most poorly cooled laptops.

I am not focusing on performance and just want longer battery life, would there be any other options or would I have to use throttlestop? This is also a fresh ssd so is it possible that I am missing something that would increase the power efficiency or the CPU?
