I just installed my new Samsung 840 evo 250gb SSD and all i can say is DAMN! I knew that SSD were faster than HDD but I was not expecting that installing programs would also be so fast.

System boot 25 sec

program installs 10 sec or less

Windows updates with 135 files 1 min

I will never go back to HDD EVER AGAIN!

:'( I want an SSD... Actually, I was so close to buying an 840 EVO one day, but I'm not too sure if my motherboard has enough space for another drive, so I didn't.

Don't waste you precious SSD, use it for things like the OS, games and programmes, that require quick access. Then use the HDD for images and documents and the like.

Install Photoshop and other heavy duty programs and watch them almost instantly open. Office will instantly open always. Also install some game that loads for long periods of time and watch it FLY! :D

Then install windows 8.1 and watch it boot even faster.

And now imagine SSD's in raid... Oh the possibilities :D

Ill stick with win 7 until they get rid of that metro crap and use a normal desktop(yes I know you can make it look that way but I dont want to deal with having to change it)

I actually installed it for windows phone development purposes. I can actually emulate WP8 inside W8.1 and can't do that n W7 which was annoying. But I installed it and got used to it within a couple of days, I haven't seen the metro interface in over 2 months as I make it boot into desktop and use ClassicShell to make the start menu look exactly like a W7 startup. Boot time is amazing, and I kinda grown to like 8.1 with ClassicShell start menu.

Cause my dream build costs many times as much as the X51, which I got for $600 USD. I don't want to build a half assed system when I can get a PC that has a 3770 and a 660, which retails for about $1400 for $600.
