no you won't. Unless there's something in a new bios update that improves compatibility with high capactity dimms. But you should be fine

no, worse case scenario, 3600mhz won't work but that's pretty normal with most ryzen 5 cpus and even most ryzen 7's but 3600 works for some people

Hey,

AMD 5600x

Asus B550f

I bought some faster DDR4 Ram than i currently have it should be arriving today, yeah yeah waste of time, money and all that.

I am going to be taking out 4 sticks of 8gb ram 3200mhz cl 16 and replacing with 2 sticks of 16gb ram 3600mhz cl 16

My question(s) is do i need to reset bios before i switch the ram over or should i be expecting to do something else? ( i was hoping to compare benchmarks with current bios setup no biggie if i have to reset)

Also this ram is not on my motherboard qvl list of memory but its Corsair Vengence RT will i be running into problems do you think?

Thanks in advance

( i blame you @freeagent)

thanks, yeah im thinking i will only get 3440ish or something but i will mark a solution in the next couple of hours when i know.

5800x3d should run memory at 3600? (for future money wasteage)

Tbh i am not entirely sure it will have much positive effect on a simple 5600X. Non-X3D CPU love low latency (lower CL numbers) more than they love higher transfer speeds (3200 vs 3600 vs 4000 and so on). Even then, the difference in performance is not that big for the difference in the price there is.

The 5800X3D is the other way around - it couldn't care less about the low latency numbers, as long as you give it more MT/s to play with.

As to if you should be able to run your at 3600MHz- this should be a walk in the park for 5600X and B550 mobo. Don't see any cause for issues.

Thanks for your inputs,

Plug and play and 3600mhz (me happy) goes as high as 3900(non proper stable)which i couldnt even get the 3200 stuff to go past 3333 and that was unstable

Im just chasing benchmark scores really running 4 dimms of ram restricted me from doing more oc (1step 2 step, gear down stuff) i think on the old set.

I have so many more questions sire

i realzie now i have no understanding of pbo, but i will try keep it simple

how did you get 4.9ghz and still running 100base clock?

when you run 135ppt -155ppt did you see 100%/90% utility in hw64? (135 gets me 84%)(running it 155 now havent even checked the scores the same on cb23)

i saw a 200point bump in cb23 at docp ram on my eco pbo (75ppt) but im still to break 12000 again on any ppt higher since from 120-155 same score, could it be a performance loss from going back to a single rank config with 2 sticks instead of 4?

__later update

cpu says this new stick is dual rank still cant get past 12000 again.

4.9 was a static clock, I set my vcore and multi and let her rip. It was barely stable if I am honest 🙂 But.. if you go back to like the first AGESAs you can get it to  boost like a 5900X, so above 5GHz. But I did not try it, but know of others who have.

Up to  140w PPT is about all I can do with PBO. That is with FCLK/MCLK running at 2000 1:1 with 1.1675 VSOC, to get in the 150s I would have to switch over to a static clock, which would be 4700MHz stable with Linpack Xtreme.. that is how I get the big PPTs.

For single rank to match dual rank, you have to run that single rank stuff 3 or 4 speed bins higher I think.. been awhile 🙂
