My question is very basic - many power supplies have PCIE power cables that split into two separate 6+2 pin power cables. I know that this is intended for graphics cards that require extra power. But, if I had two GPUs that each only needed one 6 - pin power cable, could I power them both with the same cable, which splits into two? I appreciate any help, thank you!

No, because the 6+2 cannot power 2 GPUs. You need the 6 for one card, and the +2 cannot power another card.

I think you misunderstood what I said (or I am misunderstanding you). I am not trying to power any GPU with just a 2 pin power cable, I am asking if I can use one power cable that splits into 2 X (6+2) pin cables can power to two 6 pin GPUs
