So I have a minor virus problem, its not pc breaking but annoying and needs to be addressed.

What's happening is all or most of my ram is being cached and it's annoying every time I open a new program it takes longer than it should, otherwise everything seems to function normally, ram usage is normal too like 1.5gb to 2.0gb on idle and up to 3gb when browsing and light stuff

I use avast anti-virus free, malwarebytes and hitman pro

pc spec

windows 7 home basic 64bit

8gb ram

core i5 2450m

If you run malware bytes and nothing comes up then check task manger for any weird tasks that are running. Also I think your computer is just slowing down.

nothing looks strange on the task manager and it's not slowing down its cache'ing all the ram, only started happening since I visited a few dodgy sites.

My ram is fine, re-installing windows is the easy way out, I want a proper solution, I don't wanna be defeated by these small viruses.

Maybe look around and whether their are any new browser extensions or programs in the control panel.

No, Windows Defender and Malwarebytes is all you will need. Also you would need common sense.

2gb on idle and 3gb when browsing light stuff is normal nowadays. (depends on what your on idle is though) try uninstalling some useless stuff if that bothers you, or try running msconfig and change what things should load on startup. how long have you been running that windows and what version of windows are you using?

I love how people always thinks everything is a virus.

Download AdwClener. https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/ run the scanner and clean your PC. It will find something it always does.

Yeah ok, download malware bytes and delete the malware.

either spend some cash on some anti-virus if you don't want the easy way out of clean install

or

get windows defender or mse scan with it. then after wards get malwarebyte scan then ccleaner scan and clean.

"normally" it does the job. but there are times it doesn't.

but being cheap on free stuff is not always the answer.

Live your life like a dream.

Avast is a piece of sh*t. You will only ever need Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. Along with any other free open source programs like AdwCleaner. Try and get rid of Avast and use Malwarebytes that will help you alot.
